hey... i tried to install SA 2.43 and had several messages like programXY conflicts with programXY from package-something...

so it seemed to me it's allready installed. and so it was. SA 2.53...

so... there was no panel in the server-manager until i tried to install SA 2.43. guess the panel from 2.43 was installed and made me able to use 2.53.

so...  if you do a 'ps -C spamd' (without ') and there's something like that:

bash-2.05a$ ps -C spamd
  PID TTY          TIME CMD
 2042 ?        00:00:07 spamd

spamassassin is up and running. could be it's enough to install e-smith-spamassassin-0.0.2-1.noarch.rpm cause that's where the scripts and the panel for spamassassin are located.  i'm not sure and i can't give warranty it works that way. and i don't want to reinstall it just to test it ;) but honestly... nothing really worse can happen.

if it doesn't work, do a 'rpm -e e-smith-spamassassin-0.0.2-1' and the installed rpm will be uninstalled.

hope that helps a little...

cheers, thorsten

Hi

Thank You for this article. It was working fine. I just have one question more.
Where can I get a WBL-file?

Greetings Simon

the wbl-file is something you create in adding white- or blacklist-entries.

it's a list of wanted or strictly unwanted emailadresses. adresses (or whole domains) that are in your whitelist, pass spamassassin without processing. on the other hand, adresses on the blacklist will not be processed either, but deleted. so be careful with that feature!

as you can imagine, it's no use if i send you my wbl, cos there's only my personal entries of adresses, which are no use for you.

think, what you mean, is a list of known spam-adresses. they are looked up in the razor-blacklist (included in spamassassin - has to activated), and learned by spamassassin as well (has to be activated, too).

so... if you recieve unwanted mails that always pass the scanner without being tagged as spam, you can add the adress to your blacklist. or if mails from your friends are marked as spam, though they are not, add the adress to your whitelist.

hope that helps
