Update 5 ..... screw up
« on: September 20, 2003, 03:14:47 AM »
Hi,

Don't know what went wrong but I just installed update 5 and am having problems.
1. No internet access anymore
2. No SSH access (always get access denied)
(I do get access to the server manager and it is still set to just allow local ssh
     access)

If anyone can help me with some advice please do!!!! I am a bit on edge right now. First big screw up in ages and it seems the updates are to blame. Just have no clue as how to fix it.

Regards,

Jan

Update

Ok internet is up again after rebooting the SME. That is a big releaf.
Still one nasty problem:
2. No SSH access (always get access denied)

I use Putty and it just wont let me use root access or admin access.
Please advise

Try turing SSH access off and on again via the server manager.

Terry,

Thanks for the tip. It solved it though it took another 5 or 10 minutes for the effect to take place. I find it all very confusing but am happy it seems resolved for now.

Thanks a lot for the quick assist!

I installed Update 5 on a server running a Celeron processor ... did NOT update the ppp-mppe-modules as they seem the same as Update 4 ... SSH is OK but I still can't PPtP into the server.

If it's a pentium, it's i586.  A PPro or Pentium II (or higher) is i686.
