Procmail, IMAP and Evolution - display oddities
« on: October 13, 2003, 09:41:22 AM »
I've recently moved from Win2K to RH 9, and migrated my email from Mozilla to Evolution (1.4.5). I've been having a problem with my main account, where new mail delivered to my inbox and to my sub-folders (via the dungog procmail filters) is not updating the new message count in the Evolution folder list.

In checking this, I found that all of my other IMAP folders (which I have set up in Evolution, too) have a .imaplock file in the root of ./Maildir. My main account, which is the only one I run Steven's procmail filters on, doesn't create the lock file when I open Evolution.

Has anyone else seen this? I tried accessing my account with both KMail and Mozilla, and found that KMail exhibits the same behaviour, while Mozilla doesn't.

I am assuming that something in Steven's contrib is preventing the lockfile being created, and this is therefore preventing Evolution from updating its new mail counts.

I'd appreciate any insights anyone might have.

Thanks,

As I have Procmail running, I used it to forward several of my folders to another account on my server. Wouldn't you know it - the mail all shows up correctly, as far as I can tell after a couple of hours.

This would indicate that the problem lies with my account, rather than with IMAP or Procmail (or Evolution for that matter).

So, is there a clean way of resetting my account's settings? I'm not too willing to delete and rebuild it (I can obviously move all my data files elsewhere, but moving the mail files back may cause the problem to re-appear) - I'd rather start with the mail set-up.

Is there any way of resetting the mail configuration for a single user?

Thanks,
