Theres been some discussion on here of this in the past. Wondered if anyone actually has any findings to report back now the release version 3 has been available for a while. Has anyone successfully installed it to either SME 5.6 or 6.03B? Was it a simple process? Have you then used it to authenticate to a Win2K Server domain for user access to files?

Its a very interesting prospect for people like myself that run SME alongside Win2K servers. Recent studies show that Samba V3 is 2.5x better at sharing files than an equivalent Win2K/2K3 server. As I'm a real n00b when it comes to Samba I wondered if anyone has any advice before I go ahead and try set it up for myself. There are rpms available for Redhat 7.3 - should these install ok or will they require tweaking to work with the SME customisations?

I have installed it with no issues, but I have not had the time to test on a domain
I hope to in the next week or so
