What contribs are you running?
« on: October 24, 2003, 05:24:26 AM »
Hey everyone,

I have a server running 5.6 and another running 6.03b. I am curious what   contribs users are running on either of these installations. The only real contrib I am running is Damien Curtains Email Auth Packages on my 5.6 box.

There are so many contribs/mods out there these days, it should be fun to see what everyone is using (that maybe I SHOULD be using..)

Thanks
Brian

Let's see, on my 5.6 box which was upgraded from a 5.1.2...

Gallery
Services
Webshare
Infocentral (not a contrib, but works fine in an ibay)
phpMyAdmin
phpSysInfo
Netjuke (again, not a contrib, but works great)
phpBB
DHCP Review
Port Forwarding
SSMTP
APCUPSD
Squid Properties
Web Statistics
SARG
System Monitor

and soon, I hope, CUPS and Hylafax.

Holy downtime Batman! I pray to the Gods of I/O that this box doesn't crash!  I really didn't realize how much work I have in this thing until I listed all these.

Michael, any tricks to Netjuke? I came across this just this morning and it looks to be quite good. The install looks to be quite straight forward.

Good question! I'd like to know what is being used in 6.0.

Rick, I write a HOWTO once upon a time but it's quite dated ... I've been waiting for Netjuke AND SME 6.0 to come out of beta.  Netjuke IS insanely great ... it runs fine in an ibay.  Search these forums for the old HOWTO; it might Just Work but as I said I haven't tried it with 6.0.

Relative newbie here:

6.0b3 with:

* user_webspace - gives users thier own http://smeserver/~user space
* gallery 1.3 - via Dan Brown's how-to

I've also added a customized template to allow me to browse directory structure in an i-bay via a web browser.

I'm going to give netjuke a go on 6.0, I can't see anything that would seem to be an issue for 6.0 compared to 5.6. I'll document the steps taken anyway, it might help someone else down the track.

From the list above, I would like to know what cannot be installed in SME 6.0.

I currently have the following on SME 6.0
Netjuke
Gallery
Service control

Can I install phpBB if I follow instructions here?
How about phpMyAdmin?

Gee, none of you mentioned virus scanning, I think that's the first thing to instal
Clamavis-ng combination works good on 5.6 or 6.0
Also spam filtering
Spamassassin work good on 5.6 & 6.0, see Mr Blotwijk or Mr Zartmans contribs (particularly with v6.0).
Dansguardian is good for web content filtering, see draft howto in my contrib area, advanced but still needs some work to finish it though.
Sysmon is a nice graphical look at whats happening with your server

Rick,
I've installed netjuke using this howto http://sme.swerts-knudsen.dk/index.html?frame=http%3A//sme.swerts-knudsen.dk/howtos/howto_8.htm. Works like a dream.

On my SME6.0 box:
Gallery
Coranto
phpBB
EZmlm
TWiki
WebCal
AWstats
Port opening (I need a port opened for a Java applet)
Port forwarding

I have previously used LDAP Address book, but I think this would benefit from further development to make the address book more customisable.

I am considering installing Jabber next.

On my SME6.0 box:

RPM updates
- devinfo-mitel-update-system-0.0.1 (RPM updating)

Dynamic DNS
- ddclient-3.6.3-1 (Zoneedit.com dynip updating)

Collecting all my de-spammed IMAP, pop and hotmail e-mails accounts in one IMAP mailbox
Using user-panel procmail settings to filter mail into IMAP sub-mailboxes
Works perfect with SME webmail and outlook (express)
- hotwayd-0.6-1 (hotmail mail processing, only 0.6-1 works for SME)
- sme-fetchmail-1.02 (pop mail processing)
- spamassassin-2.63-1 (spam filtering)
- spamassassin-tools-2.63-1 (spam filtering)
- e-smith-USA-0.17-1 (spam filtering)
- e-smith-userpanel-1.6.02 (procmail settings)
- perl-unicode-imaputf7-1.02 (procmail settings)
- perl-unicode-string-2.06 (procmail settings)
