SME 6 In Use

I have spent the last 6 hours surfing through all the relevant e-smith sites..
contribs, dungog, lordsfam etc and it does not appear that there has been any major move to sme 6 beta whatever. I also checked out the e-smith.org contrib howto section and did not see any docs for 6. Is this an indication that sme 6 is not being used , or are people moving to some other product. I know that Shad is adiment that he will not support 6 until there is an official release which I suspect is never going to happen. I have also read that Greg recons there is very little difference if any between the beta and the real version. Contribs started some matrix survey but I can find the results anywhere. Is this community on its way out ?

Has there been any comment form Mitel about the end of Redhat Linux as a product?

Any comments ?

Regards
Dean

People may not be developing specifically for SME 6 until its release, but many contribs seem to work on the betas anyway.  Just FWIW...

That sounds a silly strategy ...

As they should. There are very few incompatibilities from version to version. Help with contribs is always available on the devinfo mailing list.

There are many people running, and recommending 6.0 on these forums. Stephen at Dungog has either updated and tested all of his addon pkgs for 6.0 or is very close to finishing. I can't speak for the other sites, but for my own clients, (all of whom are now running 6.0) it is definitely an improvement over 5.6. I don't see the community as being on its way out -- there are new names posting here all the time. Finally, Fedora will take over developing the RH no-charge distro, so RH is not really at the end of its life. Thus, much of your posting would seem to be like the old Mark Twain saw: "rumors of my demise are highly exaggerated.
