Has Redhat gone over to the dark side?
« on: November 04, 2003, 07:46:04 PM »
This thread just started on my local Linux users group mailing list.

What are your thoughts on this?

http://news.zdnet.co.uk/software/linuxunix/0,39020390,39117575,00.htm

One person pointed out that RH 7.3 and 8.0 are EOL (end of life) on 12/31/2003, and RH 9.0 is EOL at the end of April 2004.

Could this have an effect on SME? Will it migrate to the Fedora project?

Hi,

The RedHat Kernal will continue to be developed because it is open source, RedHat will not provide support but secondary companies like SME will be able to provide support for their applications that they have in the GUI and others. Because SME uses a RedHat Kernal but uses its own software to power it.

Hope this helps.
