DansGuardian/Outpost firewall/WinXP Home

I have recently installed the Dungog DansGuardian panel (the commercial version) and whilst I have been able to set up DG without a problem and browse the web from a Win 98 machine, I have come across a very odd conflict between DG and Outpost on my Win XP machine.

I have set DG to the default behaviour so that filtering is applied on port 8080 but not on port 3128.  I then set my browsers (IE6 on both) to use a proxy server on port 8080.  This works perfectly on the Win  98 machine but, on my Win XP pc, Outpost just will not let it connect.

My firewall and browser settings are identical on both machines but, try as I may, the only way I can get the browser on the Win XP machine to connect is either by changing it to port 3128 (no filtering but firewall OK) or by shutting down Outpost (filtering OK but no firewall).

Has anyone come across this before?  If so, where am I going wrong?

TIA

Nick

A reinstallation of outpost on my XP machine has solved the problem.
