ASSP out of memory

ASSP out of memory
« on: November 25, 2003, 06:17:24 PM »
I installed the latest ASSP yesterday and began training it.  This morning, I discovered that my SME server was hung on an out-of-memory error caused by an ASSP process (can't remember which one). Upon reboot, I received continual messages from ASSP about "loading config".  some 20 processes involving perl were spawned; the system was extremely unresponsive, and after a few minutes, it was hung again.  After a few reboots, I was able to kill off the perl processes and all is well.  But now ASSP isn't running.

What process likely used up all my memory?  I've got 184 MB of RAM available for my server.

thanks.

Probably my installation of 1.0.7.4 from contribs.org got corrupted in some way since I had previously installed 1.0.7.3.  I simply deleted everything to do with assp and began again.

Note that the getspamdb.sh script fails; it can't move the spam and nospam directory entries that it creates in asspsmpl directory to the assp directory, since the latter already has spam and nospam directories.  Simply delete these before running the getspamdb script, or else untar the sample spam entries manually and then manually copy them to the /usr/local/assp directory.  Don't forget to chown -R root.root these directories.
