Juke Box install
« on: June 24, 2001, 12:34:43 AM »
I have not been able to succesfully install Adrian Chung's MP3 JukeBox module.

I have followed the instructions to the letter and even changed the .com to .org and I still get the same results:

ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/contrib/AdrianChung/RPMS/noarch/MP3Info-0.90-1.noarch.rpm  --- transfer failed - unknown or unexpected error.

ftp://ftp.e-smith.com/pub/e-smith/contrib/AdrianChung/RPMS/noarch/MP3Info-0.90-1.noarch.rpm.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Thanks!

You should be logged on as root when typing the command and also are you typing the command as one line ie #rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/etc..etc....

Hi Lloyd,

Thanks for the reply.

I am at the root and it's all on one line.  I tried it again this morning to no avail.Lloyd Keen wrote:

You can also download from here http://www.e-smith.org/contrib/rpm-index/RPM_by_contrib_last-Chung.html but this seems to be missing one file "MP3info....." if you cant find that file I'll e-mail it to you.

Hi Lloyd,

I was able to download it fine, but I have no clue how to install it. I am an NT junkie and I have had the e-smith serer only running a few days.  Trying to get a handle on it.

Thanks!

When you downloaded the file it would have asked you where you wanted to save it to. If you were logged on as user "tim" and downloaded it to your home directory then you will find the file located in /home/e-smith/files/users/tim/home. So change to the directory to where you downloaded it and then change to user root by typing su at the command prompt, then simply type in rpm -Uvh e-smith-ApacheMP3-1.1.0-07.noarch.rpm for each of the three files that were required by the HOWTO. Did you find the MP3info file?

Guys I had no problem with this installation, I copied the files into my home directory, then changed into the directory where I placed them and initiated this command at the prompt
rpm -Uvh e-smith-ApacheMP3-1.1.0-07.noarch.rpm
as well as the other two files....sweet worksa like a charm
