Lazy Admin Tools and SME 6.0 Final
« on: January 05, 2004, 05:13:07 AM »
Hey ppl, me again :)

I had a look through these forums, but couldn't find anything that helped.

I have a new SME box up and running, running 6.0 Final.

Now, I have about 300-350 users to add.....

I tried the LAT and they didn't work, it says it added the user, but none of the users appeared in the "Users" group under the server manager.....

Can someone plz help me??

I need this ASAP.

Thanks again
Finchwizard

Or if there is some other way of doing this??? It would be great.

Thanks

Ray Mitchell

I found may way to Tech-Geeks.

And found the script that dmay had made, as I saw his name somewhere on this forum as well.

But after all the instructions were followed, I still didn't get anywhere.

There needs to be some script somewhere, that uses SME's already built adding user programs, and just make it use a txt file with all the names it needs to ad into it.

And D May was the closest one we've found. But it didn't work for me on 6.0

I will look at it again tomrrow to try and get it working

Thanks again

You could install v5.6 (with updates), then use LAT to add users groups pseudonyms etc, then upgrade to v6.0.
Coming from a fresh instal of v5.6 you should have NO upgrade issues.

That true. I never thought of that......

Still, there should be other ways....I wouldn't of thought that these things would of changed much between versions.

Does anyone have ideas on all the things that get created when a user gets added?
I might be able to make my own Perl Script to do the job.

Thanks

Read the release notes for v6.0 to see the extent of changes, which are quite significant. There were some database changes.
