Sun open sources Cobalt Qube/Raq software”
« on: January 05, 2004, 09:51:52 PM »
I looked over the news on the contribs web page called” Sun open sources Cobalt Qube/Raq software”

I have also checked out there open source web page. http://open.cobaltqube.org/ It looks like we may have another alternative to webmin. I was able to install the cube3 software on my redhat 9 box and could even get the cube interface via web browser. It asks me for a username and password and I don’t know what the default one is or how to find it. There is a how to on installing it on red hat but it is in Chinese.

Do any of you know of a form for the open source qube3 software or a news group? Do any of you have any experience with it? Any information would be great.

If you know the password it has by default that would be nice.

Thanks.

Hmm something ells must be wrong with my install then. I tried admin admin.
I gut the software from ftp://open.cobaltqube.org/pub/BlueQuartz/redhat/

What didn’t you like about it? Did it have more or less features? I know it is not really in the same ball park as SME as it is more like webmen. But I love new toys to play with. I always had a lot of respect for cobalt servers. To bad the have gone the way of Mitel and stopped development of the software.

You don't have to change your startup scripts. I've installed the file from ftp://open.cobaltqube.org/pub/BlueQuartz/redhat/ ,  opened http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/_wizard/
(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is your local ip) to set some basic options (like the admin password) and it's running. Also after a restart of your redhat box.

It's  all explained on http://open.cobaltqube.org/source/index.html :

Unpack the tar+gzip archive and do install.sh inside of the directory.
# tar zxvf BlueQuartz-200xxxxx.tar.gz
# cd BlueQuartz-200xxxxx
# ./install.sh
After that, you can reach http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/login to manage the box.
Try http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/_wizard/ if you want to initial setting up
by wizard interface.

I must be missing something. When I try the wizard it just kicks me back to user name password screen. I must have my apache miss configured. I just installed a server install of red hat 9 and install the cobalt software and that is it. It has bin so long sense I configured apache by hand to handle CGI. When I check my apache error log I se this entry.

Child poses 2554 still does not exist sending sigterm

SME has spoiled me.

lol, SME has spoiled me too, but I was just curious if this wanted to work. I've installed the Cobalt software on a clean RH 9 installation (full install), without any changes in the configuration. Seems to work out of the box, but I've only taken a quick look. I can access the server, add users, etc.

I figured it out. You just have to be sour to install all the apache modules. The one rh9 picks by default are not sufficient.
