NT4.0 won't join domain
« on: January 12, 2004, 02:19:13 AM »
I have just put in a SME 5.6U6 system on line, but can not get a winnt4.0 workstation to join the domain. I can join it as a workgroup. I have a couple of win95 boxes attaching without a problem.
I get an error message that either there is no account ( but  there is ), or if I log onto the ws as admin, it says I am allready attached to the domain and and need to break the connection. I am having the same problem with a win ME (mental edition). I have no choice on the selection of workstation software ( not my stuff )

Any ideas would be of great help

Thanks in advance

Bob

you know howto login as root on the sme server box
then smbpasswd -a root to setup root in samba make sure you restart samba you can not add root in the user manger then goto the nt4 box when you join the domain usrename will be root and password will be what ever the password is for root then it will join this works with nt4 2000 and xp dont have to do this with 95 98 maybe me mite need this works fine i have done it with 2000 and xp nt4 uses much the same way

if you still have problems email me
