I have searched "cdrecord" and got no result so I post it here

Is it possible to make use of the CD-RW under e-smith.
This is of great convenience.

Any pointer is appreciated.

This is definately the wrong board to be posting this sort of question to.

Yes for sure. But this is more a general linux question on how to use a cdrw, which your best going to the cdrecord w3 site and reading the recording howto. Youll need cdrecord, depending on your burner, either scsi or scsi emulation enabled, mkisofs etc.. If after that your still in need of assistance post to the advanced forum, because your modifying the standard system, not making a suggestion for a feature, or encountering difficulty using e-smith out of the box.

Sorry guys.
I thought making a feature ( which can be done under linux ) available out of box is classified as wish list.

I think I should have posted it under forum "New User".  So next time I will post these kind of questions to "new user" or the appropriate forum. : )

In fact, I would appreciate if someone could explain more about the difference between e-smith and a vanilla RedHat 6.1.  You know, I tried to start installing additional software/tools to esmith and find that there isn't compiler.  So I start thinking.....is all libraries standard on a linux installation are there ?  For example, can I run Netscape on esmith having "export DISPLAY=myxterminal:0.0".

Do I just use rpm command to add new software with do.

Sorry for raising these again in a not so right forum.

You were really asking "how can I do it", not saying "I think that you should add this feature". Or at least, that's how your posting reads to me.

No, it should be posted in the Advanced Forum. You want you customise your system.

The appropriate forum would be better :-)

You will find answers to many of your questions in the FAQ on the http://www.e-smith.org web site.
