If the Server/Gateway option is selected is it possible to provide a feature that will keep the connection live. Some ISP will disconnect you after a set time without activity. The best solution I have found (win98) is every minute poll the time servers and set the system time.
This way it appears to be activity and there is very little load on the connection.
