Kernel Upgrade ?
« on: January 23, 2001, 07:45:32 PM »
I noticed that the e-smith 4.1 is built on RedHat 7.0 and RedHat 7.0 is based on Linux kernel 2.2.x, now the Linux kernal had upgraded to 2.4 which moved Linux more into the desktop world than any previous kernel release, Did e-smith plan to follow the trend and do some change to the product? When can we expect the new release based on the Linux 2.4 kernel?

Another question, When will the e-smith 4.1 be final released?

Thanks,
David

We will update to the 2.4 kernel when we have thoroughly
tested it and determine it is suitable for general release.
e-smith 4.1 will use the 2.2 kernel
