It would be really nice if one could have a CVS protected ibay.

I'm thinking of both a normal CVS archive accessible via ssh, pserver-
protocol and www, but also of a way to automaticly archive old versions
of files in the ibay. A CVS enabled ibay will automaticly check in
files to its archive some time after the last change of a file. That
way people can easily get versioning, no matter how they access the
ibay. If they don't have a real CVS client, they can still bring back
old versions via the web interface to CVS. The CVS archive should of
course use the same access rights as the ibay.

This would indeed be great, although I think that the CVS revisions would have *different* access permissions than the main content....even to read, let alone revert back...

Twiki supports the underlying RCS, which is probably enough...

The odd 2 cents worth:

A great idea... although I suspect it falls outside the scope of the 'mainstream' e-smith distro'. If somebody were to tackle this, I think it would make sense to adopt it as an extension (much akin to the popular mp3 setup).

Maybe it is outside of the scope of e-smith, but at least at my
workplace, the lack of revision control on the file servers is a
recurring complaint. People overwrite the wrong file, make the wrong
changes etc and the backup is always too old or it is too expensive to
restore compared to doing the work once more.
