It's too easy for people who don't know what they're doing to disable their firewall if you include these options in the manager IMO.  Better to leave it out.

I don't agree ...
Of course, this is a risk to leave unexperimented users dealing with rules through a simple interface, anyway, if they don't have that tool and want to modify the rules of their firewall, then, they will try "by hand" like myself and beeing quite a newbie concerning Linux and E-Smith beeing a "special" Linux (especially concerning template configurations, etc etc ...), this could be far more dangerous as for their firewall than for simply the system ...

Why not adding a pannel which let us manage the firewall rules and put an option which can replace the modified rules by the original ones, just in case ?
This is not difficult to do ...

I agree. Every "simple" gateway router has easily administerable (?) controls over port forwarding, IP Chains, etc.  My Netgear RT314 is a good example. Simple web interface, with more complex options available via Telnet session...

This isn't supposed to be this difficult. I'm setting up one of the easiest servers to admin, yet I feel like I have to have a background in PIX firewall administration!
