Please add a panel or a configuration parameter to limit incoming and outgoing bandwidth by ip and port.

You already have the cbq-init script provided in v0.3b2 with SME 5.5

It is a useful and easy way for getting some QOS working with your SME.
You can find it in /sbin/cbq I think.

If you need more info, or if it is too "light" for you, the actual is v0.7, a bit less easy to use. Anyway, you still have the "tc" and "ip" commands of iproute2...

How does one edit the said file and start it each time the server is rebooted.

cbq is well known as being difficult to configure. that is why i requested a control panel for it. it also cannot be made to easily limit incoming bandwidth.

i am using e-smith 5.0 how can i integrate the bandwidth manager that is used in e-smith 5.5. is there any rpm for it?

I agree a simple web interface to limite bandwidth for ports such as ftp, http and smtp etc would allow VPN's using a Citrix solution to function without having to worry about users down loading 20mb files etc.   It could save thousands of £$€ on products like Packateer.  

It is the type of Blade I would be prepare to pay for, simple to use and tested by someone who has spent the time and effort and knows what they are doing.

In fact if I might write one myself, if understood what cbq-init script was or even Linux for that matter.

I've been receiving several requests from clients who would also like to limit the bandwidth of some, or all of their users.

So if there is a demand for it I will write one for small donations.

I have also written one for maintaining the printer queue and mail on virtual domains, if anyone is interested in these let me know.
