Dial up from the web-based manager

I wonder why you haven't added some sort of function in the "web-based manager" that let's every user to dial up and disconnect the modem when they need to.
I think it's far too expensive and inefficient to let the server make the connection available at certain times.
Now I use a Windows server with Proxy+, but your server is far much better, so if you added this I would happily download and install it! :-)

Thanks!

Look at www.dungog.net site. There is a suitable rpm there.

Hi! Thanks for your suggestion!

I've checked that, but can't figure out if it's free or not. Have you or someone else tested it? Is it enough with those files I can download free?

If you can download it, it's free, if not you have to pay for it !!

From what I can see at http://www.dungog.net/sme/files/index.php
and reading the SMEHELP.CHM file (in Dialup Tools section)
dialmon-0.8-1.i386.rpm
and
dialmonW95.zip
are free,
but if you want additional control and functionality you need to
purchase and then go to login.dungog.net to get the dungog-ispconnection rpm

Setup Instructions for dialmon

1. Read about the dialmon daemon from www.quaking.demon.co.uk/dialmon.html This is the tool we use to control the connection.

2. Download and Install

download from dungog.net/sme/files and install rpm -Uvh dialmon-0.8-1.i386.rpm on the server
then either install the dialmon windows client, dialmonW95.zip on your pc's [Note for the dialmon client config we use port 7390 not the default 7002]
or delegate the internet connection user-panel

OK, thats great! I didn't understand if "dungog-ispconnection rpm" was required for it to work.
I've never used Linux before, but it's a challenge, so I will probably download it soon.

Thanks Ray.

Works great lets you dial up, stop, restart, block and force connections from your Win9X or XP clients. The ISP RPM you mentioned lets you set times of the day for you're modem to log on. Say from 8-5pm or all day or just certain days.

Does this work with 5.6? I can't seem to get it to work. There is nothing that comes up in server-manager.

I think you instal the rpm and then instal the Windows client and then you operate it from windows. See instructions or have a good read at www.dungog.net

Thanks for your help Ray however there apears to be a setup for users part that should come up in server-manager and I am not getting that to control users. Ialso can not get the windows client to see dialmon. I can not get it to connect. Any ideas.
Thanks Stuart

You need to instal the user-manager or user-panel (same rpm I've just seen it called different names many times) also available from dungog.net for free.
Perhaps when you set that up the Win users may get access.
