Intel e100 drivers
« on: January 08, 2004, 09:31:40 AM »
I have a Dell PowerEdge 2500 server with an on board Intel 10/100 nic, with sme v6 installed.

It also has an SMC1244 nic - This works without a problem.

The on board Intel nic does not appear to funtion, can't ping etc.

I have tried the e100 contrib from Darrel, but there is this warning message when installing -

[root@oulton e100nic]# ls
e100-2.1.29-sme56.i386.rpm
[root@oulton e100nic]# rpm -Uv *
Preparing packages for installation...
e100-2.1.29-sme56
WARNING: Running kernel is 2.4.20-18.7. RPM supports kernels ( 2.4.18-5 2.4.18-5bigmem 2.4.18-5smp )
[root@oulton e100nic]#

And does not appear to have worked.

Should the Intel fix have been part of the 6.0 installation?

Are you saying that the Intel NIC is correctly detected by the console wizard, the standard driver loads and configures OK, but the network didn't work?

An obvious question, but are you sure that your cable is good, plugged in correctly, etc? Do you have a link light on?
