My server crashed this morning. For some reason I don't have a connection through the network card. When I reboot it hangs at:
INIT Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes.

Is there some way I can get my networkd adapter to work so I can
reach my files or is it possible to insert the harddrive in a computer
with Windows XP and subtract the files that way ?????

Please help !?!?!

I have not heard of a WinXP tool which would allow you to read Ext3 partitions, but there is a much simpler solution. Grab an iso of Knoppix, burn it, and boot the server on that. You should be able to mount the disk and copy the contents across the LAN using Samba. By using Knoppix to save you files, you can mess around with the rescue job, knowing that you precious data is safe.

Thank you very much for trying to help me out !

But I did find a tool to read Ext3 partitions in Windows XP.
It is called 'explore2fs'. This way I could attach my linux
harddrive into a Windows XP computer and safe my data  

I was getting pretty desperate but luckely the problem has been solved sofar.
No I can start re-installing my server again.
