Help with assuring this network setup is right
« on: August 09, 2004, 05:43:00 PM »
Hi,
Things are working, but not really fast, and wanted some seasoned eyes to review and comment please:

Three locations (different cities)
All using Telus Managed ADSL behind Telus provided and configured routers to provide "store to store" connectivity.

At location 1 an additional Telus provided Cisco router for hi-speed ADSL, this is connected directly to wan interface on SME Server.

Location 1:
Cisco Router 10.58.48.3
SME Server 10.58.48.200 connected to Cisco router
Win 2003 Server 10.58.48.51 (AD/DNS)(recently added)
bunch of PC's

Location 2:
Cisco Router 10.58.49.3
NT4.0 Server 10.58.49.10
some pc's

Location 3:
Cisco Router 10.58.50.3
NT4.0 Server 10.58.50.10
some pc's

At location 1 on the SME Server:
Under Security/Local Networks I have
Network Subnet mask Number of hosts Router
10.58.48.0 255.255.255.0 256
10.58.49.0 255.255.255.0 256 10.58.48.200
10.58.50.0 255.255.255.0 256 10.58.48.200

All of the PC's at location 1 use the SME for web, and dhcp.
The newly added 2003 server at location #1 has the SME as def gateway, and the dns is the IP of the 2003 server 10.58.48.51, and we set up root hints to the SME server, and the 2003 server can surf etc.

At location #2, and #3 we tell their web browser to use 10.58.48.200:3128(location#1 SME Server) for web connectivity and it works.

Would just like clarification that this is an acceptable setup.
