Joining Windows 2003 server to SME domain
« on: January 22, 2004, 10:48:58 PM »
I have just added a Windows 2003 server to my domain (as an app server).  I went through the same processes that are required to add an XP box (adding the user root, using this name with the admin password to join the domain, and editing the registry to change the requiresignorseal DWORD to 0) detailed elswhere in the forums.
It seems to have worked.

What mode what the server in, as in, was it running as a DC?

Do you have any type of synced directory? eg are Active Directory users available in SME, and vise versa?

If not, this is something one of the linux gurus should make - it would raise the bar on Linux distros so high...

www.padl.com have nss_ldap and nss_pam which can look up users for auth in Active Directory, could this made into a module for SME?

I believe that the active directory functions have been implemented in Samba3 that is currenlty a beta module for SME v6.0.

If you want to help become a test site for the beta.
