Topic: No Administrator Email?

Where does the administrator's email get stored?  I never seem to get any emails for the administrator account (from updates and system notifications and the like,) and I'd like to track where those emails are supposed to be stored.

I configured outlook to get email from my SME 6.0b2 machine using the admin username/password, but have never received anything on that account.

I even tried having the admin mail forwarded to another account, but still nothing.

Thoughts?

err, how about (at a shell prompt) typing ¨mail¨ ?  you should (at a minimum) see the results of your cron jobs.

Also, check in the /root directory to see if you have a mail or a Mail directory?  

as for getting your admin mail, IIRC that should be in the mail settings - you need to forward to another address if you want to see it other than on the SME box.

i read the admin-mails via ssh.
there type "pine", then you're asked for the username, type "admin" and then you're asked for the admin-passwd.
now you can read, delete, forward the admin-mails.

Thanks for the advice on using Pine. I changed my root account on several servers that don't have domain names to another real world email address. Now I don't have to read through all the "Mail Failure" notices to find what I want. Was a little tricky going into the settings menu but it wasn't that hard either. To log in the root account I type in "admin" and the admin password. Then I went into the setup menu and then the config menu. All I had to change was the "personal-name" to the email box I wanted my emails forward to and the "user-domain".

I did not realize Pine came with the SME install.  Very nice.

I configured Pine as per RavenIV and stancol's ideas, and this seems to work well.  However, I was suprised to find no emails waiting.

I run SME 5.6 at work on our mail server and get automatically generated emails to the admin account daily (cron job reports, etc.)  So that's why I don't understand why this box (up and running for over 10 months,) has never had any email come to the admin account.

Any ideas?
