How do i stop the imap daemon on 5.6 or 6.0?

Hmmm..  must be going blind. Just looked at /home/e-smith/configuration and imap *IS* listed as a service.

However - once disabled (the e-smith way) is a reboot the only way to "stop" the service? there is no listed service in /etc/rc.d/init.d/
