Topic: server 6.0 - easydns dyndns

Hi all

Being a newbie to sme server 6.01.01 I never the less
was able to get server 6.0 up and running, however I ran into a small problem with trying to get easydns working.

I install the easydns howto v5 to the v6 server and the only problem was when the instructions said to use the custom option on the dyndns admin page. Only problem is the custom option isn't there on the dyndns page.

What dumb thing might I be doing wrong with this or was the option removed in 6.01.01?

Hello

I have found it is alot easier to use a couple of contribs than the built-in ddclient

search for

me-upgppp-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
sme-ddclient-1.0-5.noarch.rpm

and you must install in that order
this will give you a link in server-manager to setup your domain updater - works with several dynamic services

I just installed them in the last hour
on sme 6.0.1 the installed fine and setup
correctly but have not done a test as my
dynamic address does not change to often

Are you using a cable modem on eth or ppp connection?

Hi all


Got it working, the two rpm's installed great.

Now I have two small problems,

1 How to force an update from the command line?

2 Need to add two more hosts to update.

Then I'm done.

Can I mod a couple of files to add the two hosts?

1. cable modem about to switch to dsl though
2. I think the ddclient updates all under the domain name
   but you can check the templates-custom ddclient
