Still need contents for /var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv
« Reply #62 on: July 14, 2004, 09:27:24 AM »
Hi Folks,

i am still struggling with that. My version is SMEServer6.0-04 and this directory IS missing. No templates, no smtpfront  :-(

Could someone post somewhere the files, that are supposed to be in this directory as mentioned by Ray Mitchell; his link does not work.

Thanx.

I have uploaded the template fragments in case you want them, get them here.

http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/rmitchell/smeserver/templates/

They go in
/etc/e-smith/templates/var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv

The link is dead -404-

Could you please post these files. I do not want to do a fresh install.

The files have been removed as that was only part of the problem.

The real "fix" is to update your 6beta3 sme to the final release, either Mitel 6.0 final or contribs.org 6.0.1 takeoff release. You MUST have either of these versions installed for the rbl functionality to work.

You can totally block mail from known addresses using the Mailrules contrib. It does appear to work on OK 6.0, but with some minor issues.

Which minor issue? My issue is that it doesn't work at all... See: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=23166.0
Maybe you can help Ray?

The mailrules rpm can clash with qconfirm contrib from G Rowell, and also some "styles" of filter settings don't get rejected (so I have been told).

The (v5.6) mailrules rpm works OK for me on a 6.0 server except for the clash mentioned above.

I read your other thread, you just say it doesn't work but you don't tell us what settings you used etc etc. You are also talking about mailfront rather than mailrules. Are you actually installing and using this rpm
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/mitel/contrib/Mailrules/SME5.6/dmc-mitel-mailrules-0.0.1-7.noarch.rpm

Have you tried
rpm -e dmc-mitel-mailrules
and then do a reinstall

You might also like to try
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event email-update

This does not work  :-(

Upgrading with latest iso does not change any files. And also my server manager shows  SME Server 6.0.1-01 - i last upgraded to the contribs.org version.

Is there a way of "forced upgrade"?

Otherwise i will have to do a clean install without restore and i hate that.

hi.

i have been attempting to follow the howto documentation for adding RBLList entries and i have not seen any new entries which should've been added.

my version: SME 6.0.1-1
the commands:

/sbin/e-smith/db configuration getprop smtpfront-qmail RBLList sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org

/sbin/e-smith/config setprop smtpront-qmail RBLList sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org:whois.rfc-ignorant.org

/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv

svc -t /service/smtpfront-qmail

all of this is as per the howto. so i am confused... do i have to use a signal-event config-save as well?

thanks.

What entries do you believe that you don't see, what are you expecting to see ?

/sbin/e-smith/config setprop smtpront-qmail RBLList sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org:whois.rfc-ignorant.org
.................expand & restart etc etc

Check your spelling .....smtpfront-qmail.......
Did you spell it correctly when you entered the command ?

So what do you get now when you do
/sbin/e-smith/db configuration getprop smtpfront-qmail RBLList

hi ray.

the return shows this:

/sbin/e-smith/db configuration getprop smtpfront-qmail RBLList

sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org

i think either i made a mistake or the setprop didn't work...

thanks for any pointers you may provide.

Clearly the cpmmand did not update the db.

In case you did not realise it, you did post a command that was spelt incorrectly, you used smtpront-qmail but it should be smtpfront-qmail

Try entering the db configuration again and check it with the getprop command.

Ray,

i did as you suggested, there were no typos when running the commands. i checked the history of commands and there were no typos in any of the commands

anyway i wonder if there is anything else.
