Use SMTP from remote desktops...

Hey all,

We are a family sharing the server, but we don't live in the same house anylonger.
I would like to enable the ability to send E-Mails over the SMTP server from a remote computer - but of course the SMTP should require an Authentication like many providers do now a days.

Anybode knows how to modify the SMTP in this way?

If you know the public IP of the remote user, you can add it to the local networks panel in the server manger.  This will let the remote computer use the smtp server.

Just another idea.

From security viewpoint, adding a public address to the local network open up a big security exposure. Never do that unless you know the implication.

Securemail will be a better solution but do enforce through SMTP authentication as well as SSL.
