I just received an email from Bynari telling me that 3.0b1 of the connector for Outlook has been released.
Here's what is says: (fyi - the file I downloaded didn't have the program in it.)
To Bynari Beta participants:
I want to thank you very much for your patience! As some of you are very aware, every version of Outlook is different & difficult to understand, therefore, our development team had to perform some mirac les to create this new product.
This product treats Outlook as a native Linux client to the Insight Server. You will not see any more “connector” icons under the Outlook client. All the functions are native Outlook functions, like before. There is no more “synchronization”. We will no longer utilize Outlook’s pst file format. Bynari will provide its own MAPI service provider that greatly enhances the performance over pst files and also allows over 2GB of information to be stored locally.
Here is the link to the Beta Connector V3.0.
This version works with Outlook 2000, 2002, and 2003 currently.
Some Known issues: These bugs will be fixed before the GA product is announced.
Outlook Reminder Service is not yet working.
Message searching (which is tied to the reminders) is not working
Adding other users to access your folders (ACL dialog box) – not added yet
Local Data store not yet implemented
Note: Please read the Howto document inside the zip file before installing the Connector; it outlines the current capabilities of the product and most of the known issues.
We would love to hear from you. Please send us any information to beta@bynari.net.
Sincerely,
Hyun Kim
President
