Topic: Not detecting Dialup Modem

Sorry to ask a basic question, but being a Newbie I am stumped on how to get my Dialup (analog) MODEM to dial out.
The SME install detected it as being on COM2, I tried the Test Internet Connection feature but there was no comms with the modem, ie. no lights on the modem.
I did try plugging it into COM1, same result.
I have connected to the Internet with the same hardware under Mandrake 9.0.

I am usuming I don't need an init string.

I am using SME V6.00
Pentium 166
48MB RAM
