Spamassassin & Razor help

Hello Community:

I have been using Jesper's nicely packaged SpamAssassin and ClamAV installs for some time on an SME6.0 box, which functions as a gateway to our intranet including a Suse Openexchange server 4.1 handling mail and groupware.

recently we changed our mail set up to have email forwarded from a remote server, filtered for SPAM and viruses by the SME and then forwarded to the Suse machine for distribution.

The setup worked perfectly for some days, and the remote server was sending lots of spam and numerous viruses which were getting properly filtered. After about 10 days, we stopped getting any mail at all. Simultaneously, I could not longer reach the IP address of the remotely hosted server by web or any other service. The rest of the Internet is reachable as normal.

When I bypass the SME6.0 as a gateway, I can reach the remote server again. I have checked every external process I can find and it appears that the problem is definitely in the SME configuration.

I am wondering if SpamAssassin or Razor or Pyzor, could automatically block a site (it was forwarding a lot of spam with the regular mail) and if so, how I might go about resetting this or at least opening the channel again.

My other thought was IPchains, but from what I could tell in looking through the varoious files, the ipchains settings looked normal.

Any sage advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks
