e100 & e1000 drivers on 6.0
« on: March 05, 2004, 12:28:34 PM »
wotcher all,

Now I was sure I had seen somewhere on contribs an rpm for the intell e100 and e1000 nic's for running on a v6.0 server, but I can't find 'em.

Anyone know where they are?

PeterG.

Why bother with the intel drivers? The stock (bundled) e100 and e1000 drivers work fine.

You obviously have not installed 6.0.1 on a Dell Poweredge 700 then.

They work perfectly on a Poweredge 1600 & 2600, so what's different about the 700?  Some bastardised VE chipset, no doubt.

The stock SME 6x install doesn't recognize the e1000 ethernet adapter, nor does the console have an option to select it.  I had a similar problem when recently install SME on a Dell Poweredge server.

My best suggestion:  Install SME and select the e100 for the e1000 adapter and assign this adapter as your internal nic card.  After the install is complete go in and change the e100 to e1000 manually.  That worked fine for me.
