How do i get E-Smith to recognise a Dynalink PCI ADSL Modem as a modem and not as an ethernet card, seeing as though there are no listed drivers within E-smith to warrant setting the modem up as an ethernet card.  Or am i going to have to build a new pc specifically as an internet gateway?

not knowing the hardware you are referring to, i have a question. If the device behaves like an ethernet card, why bother trying to make your e-smith think it's a modem?
Assuming you have a modem that can appear as a ethernet card, you should have no problem as a server&gateway.

I don't know if this is the same pulsar card as the one from Traverse in Oz. I've implemented the driver for Traverse's configured for SME, using PPPoA mode.

See http://contribs.activeservice.co.uk

If your ADSL is PPPoE, I have no experience of setting that up though, it's all PPPoA here (UK).
