Topic: Proxy speed slow

My initial connection to a web site seems to be very slow.  Once I'm in the site all is good.  If I close my browser and go back to the web site I get the same results.  I'm not sure what to trouble shoot.
If if 'tracert' a web site it returns very fast with the IP so I don't think it's DNS.
If I remove the SME server and go through the Linksys box is screams.
Network is 100 Mb
Connecting to server-manager is fast

My config.
Charter pipeline (3Mb down/ 256up package)
Linksys befvp41 (I still use this to quickly turn on VPN tunnels to some of my clients)
       I forward email and web ports to the SME server.
SME server 6.0.1-01
PIII 866
256 MB ram
20 gig drive for system
160gig drive for /home/e-smith/files/ibays

I have Dan's Guardian installed but I'm not using it yet.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem with or without Squid and Dansguardian.

Never received an answer on this forum nor on the french one.

Had Suse 8.2 Pro running for months with Squid, Dansguardian and  performance was top notch but with SME 6.0 it just crawls.

I will continue to investigate and post my finds.

I noticed that if I refresh after I enter the url the page comes right up other wise it takes several seconds to load???
