Can't initialize .uidvalidity file
« on: May 20, 2004, 07:01:35 AM »
I have done a reinstall after a crash and have a problem in that when the clients try to access email using Outlook Express (Email is IMAP rather than POP) that I get an error "Can't initialize .uidvalidity file".

If I try to access webmail, all the folders are empty.

After the fresh install of SME Server 5.6 with update 4 I did an rsync of files backed up using backup2ws of the following:

/home/e-smith
/home/netlogon
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom
/etc/e-smith/templates-user-custom
/etc/group
/etc/gshadow
/etc/passwd
/etc/shadow
/etc/smbpasswd
/etc/ssh
/opt

hello
sorry for the very bad trick i'll tell u
but i met same trouble as u i fixed with creating a new folder : 1st delete .uidvalidity file, move all the mail to this new folder (via an email client like outlook) and then move back all the mails to the inbox folder (always via outlook) and then all is fixed
hey i know it's really not the best solution but it was faster for me and really efficient.
