I'm backing up approx 20GB to a DLT7000 (35/70GB) drive and it was taking over 12 hours. I recall reading that if you increased the blocksize that it could reduce the backup time which I tried increasing from 10k to 64k and it worked like a dream. Dropped the backup time down to around 2 hours. Only problem is it fails to restore. Default restore to a new box produces "buffer: failed to allocate memory" (or similar). If I try increasing the blocksize in the config on the new machine to match that of the old one (64k) I get "buffer: Input/Output error" or similar. I've tried increasing mt_blocksize to 64k as well and I get a gzip or tar error. I'm just a bit lost where to look to sort this out. I notice Darrell May has a panel (dmc-mitel-flexbackup) for configuring various tape drives. Anyone come across this problem restoring a modified tape backup and resoved it? Would installing Darrell's panel fix the problem (I'm running 6.0.1-01)?
