Want to know if anyone would like to work on a project to make a Samba/Ldap enabled version of SME?

It would entail upgrading to Samba 3, making the built in LDAP able to handle samba users, groups and machines and make it able to span the LDAP database to new servers (Active Directory style)

I am looking at making a free open source version using Open Ldap and then make a version for sale using Novell e-directory or IBM Directory Server. Sales of which would be used to fund devlopment.

The goal would be to make a server that a person could roll out as easy as SME but can be used to make domains etc like Novell NDS or Active Directory.

If this sounds interesting please write me at tmiles@teesco.com

I would love to get this off the ground by this summer with the first release by the Winter.

(To everyone let me say the main goal is not to make SME work with MS Active Directory, even though with Samba 3 and OpenLdap you could. The main goal would be to give SME directory services of it's own. Not to rely on Windows at all.)
