Topic: Mail not working after 5.5 - 5/6 - 6.0.1 upgrade Help Pls

Hello,
 I need some Help please.
I have just upgraded my SME
I was running 5.5 on an underpowered machine, and have
moved to a more powerful Laptop.
I backed up original Server,
Installed 5.5 on the laptop,  restored the previous Backup.
Then upgraded to 5.6, and then upgraded to 6.01

I then took a backup of the new 6.01 Laptop.
Reloaded a clean 6.01 install onto the Laptop, and performed a restore of the backup.
I had a couple of hardware NIC / PCMCIA issues to resolve, but have it all working.

What I did not do was install SpamAssasin, and Clamd on the new Laptop load, at any time, and these were loaded on the original machine.

Now my email Does not work at all.
Any clients fail to send, there is No incomming mail, and webmail also fails to send with

Jun  1 18:54:14 l1nuxsvr HORDE[3090]: [imp] unable to send data [on line 918 of "/home/httpd/html/horde/imp/compose.php"]
 in the messages log.

I have no idea how mail works on this new load,  I have confirmed the settings in server-manager to be the same as previous Server.

Any Suggestions?

I have solved my situation.

I tried the obvious,  Install the SpamAssassin and AntiVirus software..

This resolved the problem.

It would appear that email was geeting held up due to the VirusScan on the incomming and outgoing mail, but as the Application was not installed, the mail would stall.

So a Lesson learnt !!
Always install the applications, and then restore the backup !!
