One way I do this is to configure a VPN connection on the host.  Once you establish the connection from the remote location you can connect to the host thru your browser. Use your host's internal IP address and /server-manager and you should find it.  Another way is using the same VPN and VNC where you have a w/s on the sme lan running VNC host and you remote control that w/s to access the server manager.

Hi. I can do this with vpn but I would really prefer to enable access generally without vpn. Currently I have to edit \etc\httpd\conf\httpd.conf and add my ip address to allowed hosts for the server-manager sections. I haven't worked out how to do this properly by adding a template yet, so it's a bit of a bodge.

In the "remote access" screen of "server-manager" enable 0.0.0.0 as a nework address for server manager access.
You (and entire Internet) will be able to connect to http://HTTPS://server.domain/server-manager from anywhere.
Word of advise: don't do it.

thanks Boris. But why is it that risky? Is htpasswd too insecure to trust for this?
