Help! Can't reboot.

Seem to be getting file system errors:

Code: [Select]
Jul 17 19:41:02 marvin kernel: EXT3-fs error (device sd(8,3)): ext3_readdir: directory #1802382 contains a hole at offset 20480

So thought an e2fsck was in order.

Tried to kick into SU mode with telinit 1.  Nothing happened.  OK, thought I, reboot.  shutdown -h now form the console did nothing.  Same from the wab manager and the text manager.

Now reboot from the console says:
Code: [Select]
[root@marvin log]# reboot
init: timeout opening/writing control channel /dev/initctl
[root@marvin log]#

and nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Is it a new installation ? Seems like either a controller or hdd problem/compatibility.
