migration from mandrake to sme 6.0.1
« on: July 13, 2004, 07:51:34 AM »
Hi folks.

I am new to the forum and wanted to get some input from the experienced crowd. I am moving an old server from Mandrake (7 or 8 I think) to the SME 6.0.1. So far the set up has gone well and I have plenty of experience with RH and Fedora from the past 5 years so I am catching on quickly. Here are my questions to any interested people:

1) The i-bays are information bays as I understand it. If I want to migrate the old FTP data (files, etc) do I need to re-create the same basic format that currently exists on the Mandrake box?

2) I forgot to mention moving a website over as well. I should think it would be a case of copying the existing data from the  current server and then firing up Apache. Is this too simple of an outlook?

3) I read somewhere that qmail can't actually be backed up? Is this true?

4) How long should I let spamassassin run in "observation mode" before I kick it in? Has anyone gotten ASSP working on the SME servers?

Thanks for any and all suggestions or pointers everyone!
