SME Server and wireless Lan cards
« on: July 20, 2004, 11:22:13 AM »
Hi, I am in a fairly rural location and MESH Broadband are now offering broadband services in our area via a Wide area wireless lan. Does SME support wireless LAN? If not are they easy to integrate to it? Does anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks,

Phil

Avoid the hassle and just grab an access point.

What protocol are they using?  You can save some headaches by using a Linksys WET-11 (802.11b) or a Linksys WET-54G (802.11g).

Just what I would do.

I asked the suppier what interface card they would provide us with if we signed up, and was it compatible with Linux. This is their reply:

The equipment we use is compatible with all Operating Systems, with
regards to the Wi-Fi card, we would supply you with a Wireless
Air-Bridge device, not a PCMCIA (Wireless Card).  From this wireless
air-bridge you can expand you network.

Any idea what they mean by an air-bridge? Will this connect via ethernet? And WHY are they going on about PCMCIA cards, I never suggested that they woudl supply that!

Thanks,

Phil
