Topic: Email - Returned Mail issue

Hi all,

This is my first post and I am very new to the whole Linux / SME thing - so be gentle.

I am having an issue with mail delivery to the SME server from some outside mail servers.  Here is the message I receive: -

The original message was received at Mon, 26 Jul 2004 18:55:55 -0400 from sue.mydnsbox5.net [207.xxx.242.39]

   ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <rm@xxx.com.au>
    (reason: 554 5.4.6 Too many hops)

   ----- Transcript of session follows -----
554 5.4.6 Too many hops 26 (25 max): from <sales@myyy.com.au> via sue.mydnsbox5.net, to <sales@yyy.com.au>

Now the strange thing is I only seem to receive this error when iI use this mail server which is based in the US - if I use my local ISP SMTP server all is delivered fine.

Can anyone assist with this problem please ??

Hi all,

Have solved the issue - was a DNS issue - I had the site regestered on 2 DNS servers and one was the mail server I was using to send the email - if that makes sense.

Anyways - all solved.
