Broken webmail following update installation

Hi everyone,

Need a bit of assistance!

I went to Jesper's site and downloaded the webmail updates, transferred them to my system and updated the system.

Now I am unable to get into webmail, as it seems to not recognise any usernames and passwords. I also don't have the language option available. It seems to have gone back to some default setting.

I did notice on the update that it wanted me to manually configure various files. I (stupidly) did not keep a record of the files, and Googling has not revealed the answer to me.

I have tried to rpm -e the updates, but it tells me that they are not installed! When I try to rpm -Uvh them, it tells me they are installed!

I need to know which files I need to go and edit, and what to put in the edits.

Thanks in advance,
Hamish, Melbourne, Australia

You can find a small howto in the readme file in this contrib area:

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/dmusty/SME6.0/webmail/

Guess you have to intall the pear Log and pear Date before webmail is running again. Maybe you need to upgrade PHP before this works. There's an install script, you can also find that on Jesper's site.

HI Henk,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have worked it out, and actually the answer was remarkably simple. I ran up a test SME server in the same configuration as my box. Applied the updates and this time wrote down what was happening! I then changed all the relevant .conf to .conf.old and renamed the .conf.rpmsave back to .conf.

Hey presto, it now appears to work! I don't have kronolith, nag or mnemo, but I don't really care about that. I have a working wemail back again! :-)
