Topic: LILO only shows LI at boot

Hi All

Have been messing around with Norton Ghost 2003 and other things, the result is that when booting SME 6.01 it stops with only LI shown on screen. I can boot it from a floppy with no problems, but for some reasons I am unable to get it to boot directly from the SCSI harddisk (software RAID)?

I have tried to run LILO and FSCK at the command prompt with no change in behavior.

When I look in the first sectors of /dev/md0 it looks as if it is a Microsoft Windows NT disk??????

Shall I update the MBR and how - or is there another way? Maybee just a basic update from the CD.

Have also looked into lilo.conf but it looks OK.

Hi

This is very strange........

Had a look at your very helpful url and tried different things, like installing a new map etc.
With no luck.

Then I tried to perform an upgrade with no luck

Then tried a new installation (format file systems etc) with no luck

Still same problem, but it has been working for 2 month before this so I know it has to work !!!!

Now I will try to erase the harddisk manually and then do a new install again.............

It worked to delete the harddisk manually !!!!!

NB: With MS fdisk

I had the exact same problem after restoring an image with Acronis Trueimage.

I did an Fdisk, and made the first partition ACTIVE.

That solved it.

If you originally used MS fdisk to partition try c:\fdisk /mbr

Then boot from your floppy to start repairing LILO
