client-error-not-possible in CUPS
« on: April 07, 2004, 11:38:02 PM »
Hi,

I installed cups contrib on my sme 6 final and I can send a testpage to the printer which is a hp laserjet 4si with its own network card. I configured cups so it would print a page with user info before prining the job itself. That page it prints too. The job itself is never printed.

I check the que and its not there, I check past printjobs its there but it was cancelled. I try to restart the job and get client-error-not-possible.

I checked the forums but found no answer I could use. I check google and found some people having the same problem. The problem had to do with clients not having access rights to write to the printer. The solutions was to do chmod 666 lp0  and restart the cups deamon. I did that ..... nothing changed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really do not know what else I can do short of just printing directly to the printer itself. Problem is I like the accounting page sme can generate so much I just had to try.

Again, please if you can help.  :-(

with kind regards,

Jan

We use the default configuration setting to not preserve job files for jobs that were completed, cancelled, or stopped. That's why you get client-error-not-possible. Now we need to find out why your jobs get cancelled. For that, feel free to send me an email with your configuration details. My email address is in the howtos for the CUPS contrib.

Robert,

Thanks for the offer. Which configfiles do you need me to send?

Thanks in advance,

Jan

I'm curious if this was solved.

I'm experiencing the same problem...

Thanks.
