Problem with Spamassassin
« on: August 28, 2004, 08:54:27 AM »
Hi. running 6.01.01 with PageFault antivirus, -and Spamassassin from sme.swerts-knudsen.

the clam-av antivirus works, - but I get no spam at all... :-) Though I configure it not to delete them, - and/or sort them to a junkmail folder.... they seem to have disappeared, - and the ocassional spam-reports indicates I DO get spam....  Some of my mail accounts doesn't have a "junkmail" folder though I thought the installation would create them if needed, - but when I try to create a folder named "junkmail" it says I've got one allready (permission problem ?)....

Can I totally remove spamassassin, - and try all over (and then : How?), - I've tryed re-installing spamassassin from Jesper's Site and it installs fine, - but doesnt appear to work after that.

If I do format my box, - do a fresh install of 6.01, - and then reload my latest backup, - then I'll be back in this mess again wont i ?, - meaning I might have to format, - install, - and then do a selective restore somehow, - avoiding mail related items....

Any suggestions ?

Kim Igel.

does it make any sence to drop all user accounts, - and then re-create them ? I just created a new account, - and that actually receives spam, - marked correctly by spam-assassin...

Would dropping all user accounts have any other impact than clearing all mails and folders out of the system ?

dropped one of my accounts, - and re-created it, - still a weird thing about 'junkmail'.. it's not there when I look in the 'folders' in webmail, - but I can't create the folder as it's allready there. I removed the folder from a ssh client, - and then I was able to create a 'junkmail' folder and was able to navigate to it afterwards....
When I deleted the user, - the 'user' catalogue was removed allright, - nothing left in /home/e-smith/files/users, - but I have a feeling something was left laying around since it behaves similar when I re-created it. Still, - new accounts works fine.

just to let y'all know.
