Hey I just noticed that organizations is spelled wrong on the front page of the website.  Every time I come to contribs.org I kind of breifly read the first few sentences of that welcome message before I click on one of the links on the left side menu.  The fact that there is a typo, and the message is just not very coherent displays a bad image for this fine project.  Do you think we could lobby for a change?  Here is my first crack:


This web site contains everything you ever wanted to know about the SME Server and Gateway software. You will find the philosophy behind its design, it's interesting development history, how to download and install it, how its components work together, how to modify it, and a few other things that might surprise you, like the fact that is available at no cost.

The SME Server and Gateway software is a Linux distribution comprised of Free and Open Source Software.  

Free Software is software that is released under the GNU General Public License or GPL.  Software released under this license is protected by four freedoms:
 
0.The freedom to run the program for any purpose, any way you like.
1.The freedom to change the program to suit your needs.
2.The freedom to help others by distributing the program.
3.The freedom to build community by publishing improved versions

Open Source software is software distributed under a license approved by the Open Source Initiative.  Open Source software may not have all the freedoms that the GPL specifies, but typically the source code is always available at no cost.  

Have you ever used Free or Open Source Software?  No...  ?   Well if you have ever used the Internet you are using Free Software, it simply would not exist with out it.  Is it a coincidence that the rise in popularity of the Internet has coincided with the maturation of many Free Software projects like Linux and the Apache Web Server?  

This software is brought to you by the community and Contribs.org.  Many individuals and organizations, both commercial and non-profit, from around the world are contributing to the development of the SME Server and Gateway software and using in production environments.
