Topic: MetaDot? have anyone installed it

Hi there everyone
Since i am a newbie at llinux, then i wanted to hear, if anyone have installed MetaDot following this how-to http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/Metadot%20on%20SME%20Server%206.01-01
Does it worj without any trouble, or should i be carefull, because it can mess my system up?

I have not installed this one (but I might do it quite soon).

I can se it is not a PHP but a Perl application. I have installed a number of different php applications and there have never been one single problem with "system mess" because of this.

Don't know if there is any reason to be more careful with such a Perl application. One PHP/Mysql would be a safe choice.

Guppy is a PHP only application (no database), and it runs very well on the SME server:

I have installed it on two servers per the howto. It is tedious to download and install all the perl module rpm's, (but it's alot easier now that the howto has links! Great improvement!) and you also have to fiddle with the metadot.conf file - not only the mysql stuff, but the skin_template_dir line needs to look like:

skin_template_dir = /home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/metadot/sitedata/skin

This will take care of the error you will get on the top of each page.

I would like to see a howto putting metadot in an ibay and/or placing it as the primary ibay, not /metadot, and an rpm  packaging up all the perl stuff.

Not that I am ungrateful - My sincerest thanks goes to the author of the existing howto.

One big issue about metadot.
I found a little bug in the great howto:
In the file "87metadot" all references to /images/ alias got to /home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/metadot/html/images/ directory, and so on with other. Well, this run ok, but what happens if I want to create an /images/ directory into an ibay? Suposse you want utilize this directory for store all images for your new web page (not metadot), the alias /images/ redirect your http references to other directory of images locate in /home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/metadot/html/images/
and no to ../ibays/xxx/html/images/
Any one can fix this issue?
